Privacy Policy

Effective August 15, 2026

Unburden is a family organization app. This policy explains what information we handle and how. The short version: your family's data belongs to your family. We don't sell it, we don't show ads, and nobody outside your household can see it.

What we collect

What we do NOT collect

Where your data lives

Your data is stored with Supabase, our database provider, on infrastructure hosted by Amazon Web Services. Data is encrypted in transit. Access is controlled so that only signed-in members of your own household can read your family's content — this is enforced at the database level.

Who can see your data

Only the members of your household — the people who joined using your invite code (currently you and your partner). We do not access your family content except as required to operate the service or comply with law.

Sign in with Google

If you use Google sign-in, we receive only your name and email address from Google. We do not access anything else in your Google account.

Notifications

Reminders are scheduled on your own device. Household notifications (like "new task added") are delivered through Expo's push service and Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging using an anonymous device token.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time in the app (Family sync screen → Delete account). This permanently removes your account. You can also email our support address (below) and we'll delete your data within 30 days.

Children

Unburden accounts are for adults managing a household. The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Kids can appear as name labels created by their parents — those are just text, not accounts.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and note significant changes in the app.
